Unfortunately, Philips stopped making the original head for my 1290X, and if you need a replacement, you are stuck with this piece of crap. The main difference is that with the "new" replacement head, the three heads no longer pivot individually. The result is that this head comes nowhere near as comfortable and close a shave as the 1290X used to. Equally unfortunate is that if you are lucky enough to find the original replacement head, it will cost you almost as much as the entire razor. I am not the first person to voice this complaint, and for the life of me, I cannot figure out why Philips has totally ignored the complaints of their customers. Picture: Compare for yourself the one-piece "new" head with the original 3 separate-independent moving head.
