Hey all I am a HUGE fan of north and south and I have the complete set on VHS ..So I got the DVDs and well I AM SOOOOO ANGRY!!!!!! That they are portraying this as the whole movie....IT ISN'T... They cut out Weddings and the end of book one and two are CUT OUT!!!!! Let me explain to you how they jipped you all on this cut of North and South....These are the scenes that they leave out..But first let me tell you what comes to you in the box set.. Book 1 there is 2 disks (both disks 2 sided) Book 2 there is 2 disks (both Disks 2 sided) Book 3 1 disk (2 sided)... There is a catch to it... On the Back of the second disk ....on book 1 and 2 is BLANK....says on the disk NO RECORDING!!!!!!!!!!! If I was amazon I would go back to the people who made this collection and make them make it COMPLETE!!!!!!!!! Now here is what parts that you will miss seeing in this crappy collection!!! You don't see the END OF THE WAR!!!!!!!!! on the second book..You don't see Oary go and get Madeline back and Meet his SON!!!..You don't see all the soldiers coming home from the war...YOU DON"T even see the part where LINCOLN dies HELLO this important HISTORY that they cut out.. YOu don't see the signing of the peace between the states... COME ON...You don't see Oary go and rescue Madeline from her husband and when he kills her husband...you don't see Oary and Madeline Marry.... it skips it and goes directly to Madeline at Mount Royal....HELLLO these are important parts!!!! You don't see Gillian Kill the Senator and her and her brother make up in the jail cell before she dies..You don't see charles finding out that he has a son and that the woman he loves is dead...However in this cut would make you wonder how he has a son when they CUT IT OUT...however in book 3 it's all about charles going after Bent to get his son back..... YOU DON"T EVEN SEE THE BURNING OF MOUNT ROYAL!!!!!The end that you do see of book 2 is where Oary confronts his sister about madeline and when you flip the disk over....IT"S BLANK!!! yes that is correct it's blank...You get to go watch the 3rd book now...and miss all of that. (theres more than that but those are some major scenes that you will notice) I don't know if you all are as much of a die hard fan of North and South like I am but THIS IS WRONG!!!!!!!!! I am SOOOOOO disappointed with this replication....My advice to you is get the VHS version if you want the FULL movie...Because the DVD collection is NOT the full version of the movies at all!!!! Just a little help here the entire first book and second book total time is 1131 mins total (from the count on VHS tapes)...(this does not include the 3rd book) The DVD collection is only a total of 1212 mins and this includes the book 3.(book 3 by itself ran for 4 days as well ...it's mins are 380 mins) Add 1131 mins to 380 mins total is 1511 mins...(dvd is only 1212 mins)..SO that should tell you right there about how much they CUT out of this set....My advice get the VHS if you want the whole movie!!!
