I have had many issues with the tailight function.
I have used these led's extensively over the last couple of months, and I have discovered some problems that have made me switch back to incandescent. Initially, all was well with these lights. I ordered these for my 2005 Toyota Sienna with the 1157 style brake/parking light sockets. They are very bright and have all the advantages a typical LED should. I typically do a lot of night driving and one of the problems I had was the difference between the tail light just lighting up with the headlights compared to when the brake is stepped on. When functioning correctly, the light gets about 20% brighter when the brake is applied with the headlights on. However, I noticed that after a good hour of night driving, they would not get any brighter when I hit my brake pedal. They would stay the same brightness at night whether I was braking or not. This would end up being pretty dangerous, as the cars behind me assume I am not hitting the brakes. Before these bulbs, I had bought Sylvania ZEVO LED lights, and those worked perfectly (other than the fact that they were considerably dimmer than the long life incandescents, hence why I went to these). Other LED bulbs I used and regular light bulbs I used did not have this issue. They got brighter than the running light when the brake was hit. The point to my review is, I ended up wasting 20$ for these, and an additional ten when I went and bought new incandescent bulbs. I suppose if you primarly drive in the daytime, and don't turn on headlights in adverse weather during the day, these will work out for you. However, for me, I would rather have slow incandescent bulbs than no brightness change at night at all.
