I received this product as a gift. This morning was my first attempt at using it. I laid some bacon in the pan and covered the pan with the lid. Several minutes into cooking, I removed the lid to turn the bacon over. The heat setting was on the LOWEST setting/ amount of gas possible. I was holding the lid in my left hand and turning the food with my right. I had only turned 2 pieces when there was a very loud POP! The explosion that took place was this lid blowing up in my hand. Glass went flying everywhere. It flew all over the kitchen, all over the counter, covered all of my food with shattered glass, on the counter, and in the pan. I was just standing there holding the lid; it never came into contact with anything! In addition to the shards of glass all over the kitchen, upon exploding, the skin on my wrist was also punctured and bled from the cut. It was about a minute and a half earlier, my 9 y.o. son was standing next to me talking. Had he still been there, it would have exploded in his face! I am shocked as to how this could happen! This is a lid that is made to cover cooking food! It was not even exposed to extreme heat! This may not be the most expensive or best quality lid on the market but exploding glass is absolutely unacceptable. Promptly after this happened, I took pictures of all the glass and the cut on my wrist. These photos, and a version of this review, have been sent to support@ozeri.com. At this point, I am scared to use, and have absolutely no interest in a replacement of the same product. Ozeri, can you inform me as to your protocol when someone receives injury from normal and expected use of your product and how you plan on handling this incident, please?
