Two tries and this product didn't work for me. I bought one and the top griddle didn't turn on at all. The display showed E1 and there was no heat on the plate. I couldn't find any error E1 mentioned in the manual so I called Cuisinart. They didn't know what that was and told me to return to amazon. The replacement unit got heat on the top and bottom plates but the unit didn't register when the bottom plate got to the desired temperature and stayed in preheat even though the the grill plate was clearly hot. Too hot to use. I even tried putting it at the lowest temperature and it still didn't register that it was at the desired temperature. So basically unusable and I had to return it at well.
