Weight limit is not 350lbs as claimed! Broke in 1 week!
I am very displeased with this chair. I purchased it for my husband for after his back surgery. He is not supposed to sit upright for about a month post surgery.
My husband is a big guy, about 300lbs. So I did a lot of research before selecting a chair. The last thing I wanted was for it to break under him after he had just been operated on.
This chair claimed to have a weight limit of 350lbs. As an engineer I know that there is usually a factor of safety that is applied to that rating as well. It seams that no actual weight testing was performed on this chair, because 1 WEEK after my husband's surgery and the purchase of the chair, my worst fear happened. THE CHAIR BROKE UNDER MY 300LB HUSBAND AFTER BACK SURGERY! This is not acceptable. He had so much trouble getting up off the floor, he was required to move in ways that the doctor strictly forbade him from moving so soon after surgery. He could have seriously hurt himself and required additional surgery or worse.
After the chair broke I took a closer look. The frame is very sturdy, as well as the fabric. But the frame is held together by a tiny extruded plastic connector piece. This was the point of failure. Why didn't they make this piece from a more durable material? The chair would have been fine if they had.
I was so displeased because it was very comfortable. I wanted to buy a whole set for our patio.
If you are a big person do not waste your money on this chair.
