Doesn't Deliver 2400 Lumens (Theoretical Max Brightness Only)
I bought these to replace another 1200 lumen "super bright" bike light from Te-Rich that isn't nearly bright enough to safely illuminate obstacles on the street in a bike lane at night. I was excited about the potential of this Victagen light to double the intensity of my lighting. The result; however, was very disappointing. This so called "2400 lumen" light is only about 60-70% as bright (30-40% dimmer) then my original 1200 lumen light source. The problem appears to be that Victagen is replying on the max lumen spec from the datasheet of their dual Cree LEDs that are rated at 1200 lumen each. The issue is that while they use a pair of 1200 lumen LEDs (and likely bias them correctly from an electrical circuit standpoint) they don't appear to deliver all of the available light through their optics to the street. The light guide, reflector, and lens all play a significant role in delivery of peak brightness. Victagen is specifying the LED source lighting rather then the measured lumen value over a 1 meter area after the LED light passes through their full optical assembly. Its sad that Victagen is playing games with this lumen spec (along with MANY other bike light vendors) and not specifying the actual brightness that their product delivers using a brightness meter. I returned this product to Amazon and will continue my quest to find a super bright bike light that specs the actual measured light output rather then a theoretical maximum value.
