This is NOT an aquaponics system! This is the BACKBONE to an aquaponics system... Do Not Buy if you are not fully invested in the concept! Although the sellers have done a good job making a pretty product for your home, it is a very misleading pitch. Taking care of fish and plants is not nearly as simple as Aquasprouts tells you. Long story short, if you want to keep this project alive and have a full living system that looks good, is Productive, and is easy to maintain, you are going to be spending at least $200 more. $300 is probably more accurate. It takes FAR more planning, preparation, and maintenance than you might think. Along with the aforementioned, you need to think about functionality. This is not for anyone who can't lift the entire structure in an emergency or just to rearrange your tank. You will have lights, grow medium, and plants to remove, and the pump hangs down as well. This all weighs minimum 10-25 lbs depending on what you are growing and how you set things up. The structure fits tightly and is awkward to grip and lift because it is not very thick plastic so be careful. The pump is not removable! Once you connect the tubing it does not come off! This is crucial to know when arranging your tank plants and decor. Speaking of weight, this system will end up weighing roughly as much as an adult human or quite a bit more depending on your setup, but squished into a roughly 1' by 2' rectangle that puts tremendous pressure on whatever it rests upon. Be VERY careful choosing what you set this up with as far as your base, and buy a quality tank. Back to the system being just a backbone, it is a skeleton and nothing more. You will need a heater if your temperature fluctuates more than 3-5 degrees to ensure fish health, and 5 is stretching it. You will need a filter to ensure system health! You will need a tank light and also grow bed light. All of which are not included! I can't stress this enough, you NEED those elements! (remember tank is not included either nor an air pump if you desire one. Also think about pests and how to combat them without compromising your food OR fish!!!). Once you start shopping around you will see that even with good deals on the internet, this is going to cost a good amount of money! That being said, make sure you order your lights and parts ahead of time. Shipping problems happen, and I am having a HUGE one with my grow light that fits this "system". Lastly, you Will run into problems. Be prepared for them! Pests can fly in the door, hitch a ride from the pet store etc... All in all I can't give this a positive review. I really do appreciate the concept, but for the price it is not worth it. The seller is misleading and does not provide enough product for the price. Anyone in aquaponics knows how many elements are missing from this and how disastrous this can be to the person that trusts Aquasprouts and makes an attempt at this without the extra elements I mentioned.
