Used To Be Good Years Ago but Now It’s Terrible
Standards for this item have drastically been reduced since I bought my first one many years ago. If you read the customer reviews you’ll notice a common theme: The material is cheap and flimsy. It is. Everything is made of particle board and the backing is like cardboard. I feel the instructions are thorough. Even though I did drill 4 holes into the wrong boards (there goes that theory). The back didn’t line up either. I had to hammer in a couple extra nails because the backing was crooked. Watch where you hammer in the back too, the particle board in the front will chip and come off. In addition, there was some sort of orange finish on the front. Not the back or sides. The front of the unit had orange on it. (refer to photo) In an effort to either reduce weight or costs (or both), they have done the unthinkable: made the shelves thinner and shorter. That means that with the exception of the middle and bottom shelf, every single blu-ray or DVD will hang off about 1/2 inch. Are you kidding me? Make the unit shorter or remove the foot or something but don’t mess with the shelves! Oh and don’t refer to the photo of the item on amazon.com because it is a photo of the old model that had thick shelves; the one that i wanted. Amazon - Change the photo! It’s extremely misleading. I was excited to add this Atlantic Oskar Wall Unit to expand my blu-ray collection but it’s been an absolute s**t show. Now i have to take the whole thing apart and somehow fit it back in the box so that UPS can pick it up and send it back to Amazon. I do realize it’s not Amazon’s fault or maybe it is for carrying the item but I will never look to Atlantic for any shelving or displays again.
