This is NOT an appropriate home for a betta. Bettas require, at minimum, 2.5 gallons of HEATED, FILTERED water, with water changes performed regularly, just like with any other fish tank. They do not thrive in stagnant, cold, half gallon containers. They'll sit there and not move, and then will "live" a very short life, usually less than two years. These are FACTS; please do not buy this thinking that you're doing your betta a favour. You're really not. Instead, purchase a five gallon starter kit and put a heater in it, along with some live or fake plants and a little hide for him/her. THAT will be doing your betta a favour. Please please please do your research about the pets you want - even the little bettas! They deserve better than half a bowl filled with stagnant, cold water.
