I was determined to try and enjoy the game even after reading complaints about it online all day but when I got home and tried to play my copy I immediately found an even bigger problem than all the performance issues everyone has been complaining about, you can’t play the game without internet. When I try to start the game I get a message telling me to link my console to a Nintendo account and all I can do is link an account, view info about linking an account, or Cancel (which takes you back to the profile select screen). The cartridge is totally useless if you haven’t and don’t want to hook your Switch up to the internet. They had all these years to develop the game and this is the garbage they came out with. The box doesn’t even say internet and an account are required, only that they are required for online play; nothing about not even being able to get to the title screen (or the load screens that likely appear before the title screen…) without them. I’d have given this 0 stars if that were an option.
