I recommend a gate, pillows and Vaseline instead
We got this for our rude cat but it spent more time shocking us than serving its purpose. We have a downstairs cat that hurts our upstairs cat. He’s also quite clever and can scale most any baby gate no matter how high or fortified... so we bought two of these to try for the top of the stairs and the top of the banister. We covered all jumping, walking and running ground with the mats- not one inch of floor space. Guess what though? Cats are fast!! Our cat had cleared that mat well before the shock and the beep had a chance to even begin to do their thing. Back in the box. So disappointing. Great concept- but needs way faster reaction time. Like, if it could read my cat’s dirty little mind, that would be great! We did end up working out a solution with the world’s tallest baby gate midway up the stairs, fortified with pillows, duct tape, a quilters mat, metal bells, a tub of Vaseline, a trivial pursuit card box and wooden shims. Yep. Not a single cat assault incident in well over a month- looks like crap- works like a charm.
