haven't bought a new umbrella in years but finally went for it because all of my ancient umbrellas are worn out with small tears in the fabric. chose the repel due to the good reviews (starting with wirecutter's) and am disappointed to say the least. discovered upon opening it for the first time that one of the spokes is bent, so when open one side is collapsed and when closed the same spoke sticks out. the material also feels thin and cheap and the diameter of the canopy is smaller than advertised. lots of little threads sticking out that would probably rip apart with use. the button does allow for powerful opening and closing but also seems likely to break quickly. will have to try again with another brand, i don't even think i want to bother getting a warranty replacement.
