Great hardware, terrible software
The hardware is excellent. The cameras are discrete, durable, and produce great quality images, even in total blackout conditions. The battery life is heavily dependent on the settings you choose - maybe you can get two years out of them if you set everything to the minimum. Mine only lasted 2 weeks with higher settings, so I've now connected the cameras to USB chargers, which was no big deal. The wireless range is great. Setup is pretty easy. The mounts are good. But these are completely ruined by the lack of features in the software. ALL of the major problems I have with these cameras could be easily fixed with a software update! So I'm going to hold on to these in the hopes they get upgraded in the future, because it's just way too much work to switch them out for another camera. Here are my issues with the software, in order of significance: 1. There is no way to record continuously. The cameras start and stop whenever they detect motion, and there's no other option, and stop for a minimum of 10 seconds in between the maximum 60 second clips. This is understandable when running on battery, but even when they're plugged in, it's still the same. You end up with a million little separate short clips. No way for recording longer time periods. 2. There is no way to stream live the video and record at the same time. You'll often see "Camera is busy" when trying to pull up the live stream. This means it's already recording, and you have to wait for it to stop before you can look. And if something important happens while you're watching live, you're out of luck, because there's no recording. 3. There is no web interface, or desktop app. The cameras can ONLY be viewed through the mobile app. 4. There is no way to watch multiple cameras at once. 5. The motion sensing notifications are unusable. I have these cameras installed in a business. I would like them to be actively recording during business hours, and then send me a notification if there is motion outside of business hours. I thought, based on the scheduling features advertised, that this would be possible. But instead, it's either all ON or OFF for the notifications. Which means it's going to send me another notification EVERY 60 seconds (or whatever the retrigger time is) during business hours, as it constantly detects motion. I could have the cameras turn off completely during business hours. But no way to turn on/off notifications and recording independently on the schedule. 6. The free file storage is pretty awesome, and it's a decent amount of storage. This is the biggest feature that sold me on this camera. But I do wish there was a way to pay extra for extra storage. 7. There's no way to add users, and selectively share access to camera(s) with those users. I'm going to keep the cameras, because it's too much work to switch them out now, and I'm hoping maybe a software update will add some of these features in the future. BLINK, PLEASE update the software! I'll make sure to come back and keep this review up to date if any of these features get added in the future.
