WARNING: Warranty does not cover water damage if it turns out not to be waterproof!
The third time I used the Hero Session in water--about 5 feet deep--it got a considerable quantity of water under the lens cover and will not work. I was surprised to learn that the warranty for a camera which is advertised as waterproof to 10m DOES NOT COVER WATER DAMAGE. A major selling feature is that it's waterproof, but if it turns out that it's NOT waterproof, that's your problem. I can try to repair by purchasing a lens cover kit, they told me, but if there is anything wrong inside I'm on my own. Water must have leaked in the little side door that opens for charging, they said; you have to keep it really clean. It looks clean and tight-sealed to me. No matter how well the camera functions, if it won't function under water and you lose your $199 purchase after two months I have to give it one star. Beware!
