I purchased a pair of these lights at the same time as I did a liner change on my pool. I replaced a pair of incandescent pool lights which were working fine after 11 years but I felt that the energy savings of LED combined with the novelty of color was worth the cost and trouble. My mistake. The lights were installed by my 'pool professional' which extends the manufacturer warranty to 1 year. No big deal, I thought, since these LED lights last effectively forever. I have replaced most of the standard bulbs in my home with LED over the last few years as prices have fallen to $5 or $10 per bulb and have replaced exactly none of them--except these $500 beauties--one of which failed within a few weeks of install. Pentair replaced the defective unit--although it took several weeks to do so and it was time to close the pool up here in NY. So, I opened the pool this year and the OTHER light was not working properly. The red light was dead and the lights no longer synchronized in color--kind of awful looking. Remember, I have not used these lights for more than 3 months total since purchase and perhaps 10 hours per week. Maybe 120 hours total time lit. I called Pentair and explained why I felt the product was defective and that I hadn't really had a chance to get a '1 year warranty' out of it since we only used it for a few months. No luck. Warranty expired, no help from Pentair at all. Accordingly, based upon the cost (exorbitant) and the poor build quality (both lights failed within a very short time) and the poor customer service from a manufacturer which I have purchased most of my pool equipment from over the years, I have to warn potential buyers away from making this investment.
