This is my first ever amazon review. I had to because of how frustrated I am with this product. After much review I bought this popcorn machine with my birthday money. It doesn’t work. The machine arrived, the night of a party, and the first batch of popcorn was chewy. I could tell it popped way too fast. NO INSTRUCTIONS included on where the thermostat is or how to turn it down. Remarkable. After a YouTube search I figured out how to do it on my own. 2 1/2 hours later and 7 batches of popcorn ruined it still would not heat at the right speed. Customer support is email only. No one to talk to about the problem. Terrible! They emailed back 2 days later and gave instructions which instructed me to boil 1 cup of water in 3 minutes and included a picture on how/where to adjust the thermostat. How is this instruction not on a pamphlet in the packaging?!?! Again this evening my wife and I have spent 1.5 hours of unscrewing/disassembling and adjusting the thermostat and reassembling it and the thermostat still won’t heat at the right temperature. Chewy popcorn every time. So much wasted time and wasted money on popcorn/oil/butter. This machine is going back. Quality control should do a better job of ensuring these thermostats are set properly before they leave the factory. And at the very least this company should be considerate enough of the consumer to include instructions on where to find and how to adjust the thermostat if needed, especially if they aren’t going to have live customer support. I should mention I am extremely handy including carpentry, woodworking, farming, fabrication, and many other hobbies. This issue is not operator error. I expected more from Great Northern Popcorn.
