Ok ish but less so, now
This was a nice fit for us. We live in a former coal mining town, meaning all of the people who lived here before us were vitamin d deprived midgets who held in their hearts a fondness for tiny doors. So it was best to get something that could reasonably fit through a small gap. This is that sofa. It comes in two narrow but long boxes, more like flat pack furniture. You can get it into any room easily. So my advice to you, if you buy this, get both boxes open and lay it all out. It's all there, but some parts are hidden in the base of the sofa, which opens with a zip. After you get everything laid out, it is easy to put together.
On the plus side, it is nice to look at and constructed well enough that you don't feel like you are going to break it, even when you lie on it.
My personal preference is for something firm and this is really firm. I mean almost hard. It feels like it will soften up after a while so I'm not bothered about it. But if you don't want firm then do not buy this.
On the down side, and why it gets two stars knocked off, the back of the sofa is very low. Think of it being about mid back. And the sofa itself is narrow. So it's not really the best if you want to hang like a half empty sack of potatoes on your new sofa. The chaise is also very short. I am 6ft 1 so my legs hang off it a bit. It might be a bit better if you get an ottoman or some footstools with it but the back wouldn't be all that comfortable. We might see about getting some more cushions to see if that helps.
It does get a bonus point for having clearance beneath it. The cat likes to go under there, lay on his back on the hard wood floors and use his claws on the underside of the sofa to drag himself along. So, it's an ok ish sofa but an even better pet play toy.

General update from almost a month of having this sofa. Still pretty firm, and we have been trying to sit on it a bit to soften it up. And we are very good at sitting. I would not say yet that it's entirely comfortable. Still, we will persevere using all the power of our backsides. Will do a six month update. Just a note to say don't buy this at $699.00. We bought this for around $450.00.

5 months in and I decided to do a 6 month update.
Also, I can't count.
Here it is though. I downgraded this from three stars to a two. It's not comfortable. It's not going to get comfortable. It stays hard and just sinks down a bit. It won't ever be comfortable. The fam are displeased with it because it's just a hard sofa. I'm getting the "I told you so," bit. And we've been married about, oh I don't know, three hundred years or whatever. We have a long way to go and this sofa will probably survive most of that time just to spite me.
My only hope of getting rid of this thing is the hoarde of cats living in our house.
Avenge me, furry minions.
Oh, and guys, if you are looking at this review- heaving great big sigh- sometimes you just have to listen to the wifey.
Thankfully she doesn't read Amazon reviews.

Just when you thought I was done rambling on about this sofa, I'm back!
We've been experimenting! We removed the uncomfortable cushion from one of the, well, cushions. And now we have been filling it with fluff. A sort of foamy substance we found here on Amazon. Mixed results too. It's a bit more comfy to sit on but I've never really fluffed before and I fear I might have over fluffed. I'm sitting a few inches higher than anyone else, but it's not as hard. This is an encouraging sign. I will wait to see if it levels out a bit after a while, or maybe pull some of the overfluff out.
Only problem here. One couch cushion took about 10lbs of fluff. That's $70.00!!
But I might end up having to add half a star if this thing can be redeemed. Will be back later with a review on a wood chipper, or something positive to say about this sofa!
Update!!!
I am still rambling on about this Sofa! It's become sort of an obsession now but it's very therapeutic. This thing is basically a park bench with some lovely fabric draped over it. The cushions are kinda nice though. Got to give it some love for the throw cushions. Anyway! I'm back because, firstly, I haven't ranted about it in a while now. And secondly, we have been experimenting as per the note above. As promised, I said I would come back. And having wasted all my money on a bad sofa, I don't have enough left to buy the wood chipper.
I made a mistake with removing the cushion and packing it completely with fluff. Once the fluff sinks down you experience the hard wood beneath and it's even worse than the hard cushions were to begin with. So I took the 10lbs of fluff out. Honestly, it felt a bit like I was murdering Kermit. But I did it anyway. Put the original cushion back in, and then shoved some fluff back in on top.
It's not great. But once it sinks down a bit, I will try padding it with more fluff to see if I can't work out some sort of happy medium.
I don't know if I will bother coming back again to update. It sort of feels like this is turning into a thesis, and we've all been through enough of it already. So I hope this has been helpful!
And I hope you can all find a nice comfy sofa and have pleasant butt grooves to show your family and friends.
Just a quick note to say just shy of one year, someone sat down on the L shape part and it shattered, and I lowered it to a one star review because it didn't even make it to a year. However, rejoice for we are going to be free of this awful sofa.
Seriously people, Yay!!
Update...
The final word this time, I promise.
So it's finally gone, the dark curse of the awful sofa has been banished from our home. I wish I could tell you how beautiful it looked, sitting there in pieces by the curb, waiting for the trash pickup. This was legitimately the best moment in this sofas existence. We bought a stone and beam loveseat for about the same price this torture rack will cost you now. Smaller, yes. But so much more comfortable and well built.
Happy endings and stuff. I hope for the same for everyone else who came across this sofa.
