Solid state hard drive failed after two weeks - seller was unresponsive. Don't buy.
This computer was terrific - at first. This was one of Dell's best Latitude designs (My company has been issuing us Dell laptops for the past 20 years - refreshed every 3 years with a new Latitude). It was extremely fast, quiet, ran like a champ. No bloatware was installed - just a lean version of Windows 10. Was very happy. 2 weeks after I received it - I went to start up the laptop in the morning - got a message indicating the hard drive was not found. Obviously the HDD had failed. I contacted the seller via e-mail - they were immediately apologetic, and recommended I contact the manufacturer?! I was confused - as I thought they had refurbished the laptop, not Dell. I replied to the e-mail asking them to clarify the warranty with Dell. I got the automated "I have been assigned to your issue" reply. And no response in over a day. Mind you, they replied within an hour to the first e-mail. So I replied to my reply to bump it - got the automated "I have been assigned to your issue" reply - and stony silence from this vendor. The easiest solution would be for them to replace the HDD in the laptop, and reload Windows. But they didn't respond. So I called Amazon tech support - who were very good - they had me go thru a few troubleshooting steps in the Dell BIOS - everything was working perfectly - except the HDD. This confirmed the HDD had failed, as I suspected. The tech asked me if they wanted the vendor to send another or get a refund? I told him of my poor experience, and opted for a refund. Amazon immediately refunded my money, e-mailed me a prepaid shipping return label last night, and I boxed up and dropped off at UPS today. Very disappointing - this was a great computer and I was looking forward to several years of trouble free usage. HDDs do fail - if electronics fail, they usually fail in the first month of usage. I don't fault the vendor for that - I do fault them for doing nothing in 2 days time to help me.
