Small Problem Causes Total Failure
I was originally pleased with the design and performance of this light, but i noticed in just a few days that the adaptor plug was getting burning hot. I tried it in different outlets but it was clear that the plug--not the outlet--was the problem. I couldn't even deal with it by using it for shorter times because the heat came within just minutes of turning it on. After just 5 days of use the light quit working at all. I was pretty sure the problem was just the plug, but it didn't look like it would be easy to replace. Since none of the reviews mentioned the plug being the problem, I thought maybe the bad plug was just a random anomaly. I arranged a return but also ordered a second light purchase. When it arrived, I hadn't yet mailed the first one. As soon as I set up the new light, THAT plug got burning hot...so the problem appeared to be a pattern. I also checked using the first light with the second plug--the light came right on. So obviously it had quit working because the plug died rather than any problem with the light itself. I have returned the first light and kept the second--but I expect the second one to likewise die in a few days, at which point I will have to return it also. I doubt there's any point to trying a third--I'll probably just select a different brand altogether. I'm really curious how this problem can be an obvious pattern, and not be mentioned in all these 5 star reviews.....maybe the company changed suppliers or got a bad batch of plugs....but when the plug quits working, so does the light--so how are there so many happy customers? Something doesn't add up. I was diagnosed with SAD over 30 years ago and must have light treatment--my first was big, bulky and nearly $400. I am thankful there have been such improvements in design and price--but its only good if it works!
