Steady stream of frustration - Would caution against buying this kind of "refurbished".
Look at me, trying to save a few bucks and buy refurbished. I was unable to activate it online per the URL... "Unit has already been activated!" Call Ooma. Off the bat, they want me to give then 10 dollars to "reactivate the cancelled device in their database". Huh? I am the new customer, who just bought a "certified refurbished" device on Amazon, and I'm trying to become a new Ooma customer. Why would I be financially punished for someone else disconnecting it? (And why would any refurbished unit NOT be inactive in their system?) So I spend 15 minutes on hold to get that ransom fee waived with a "supervisor". Next verbal warning: "Sir, you should know that as such, this unit will not be covered under any type of warranty". Sigh, okay... well, Amazon claims its 90 days, I'll take that bet...next? "Sir, you will receive an email in 24-48 hours with instructions on how to activate this device. Double HUH? You just looked it up, and made it active in your database - what am I waiting another 1 to 2 days for to get a home phone?!? "Sir, this is standard policy for someone IN YOUR SITUATION. THERE ARE OTHER CUSTOMERS IN THE DATABASE AHEAD OF YOU." Topping it off, I paid an additional 10 bucks for the BT adapter when I bought the thing, and of course, one comes with the unit in the box. THANKS OOMA AND AMAZON. What a blast it's been. THIS IS NOT HOW THE INDUSTRY TERM "REFURBISHED" IS SUPPOSED TO BE USED.
