Edit2: It's been two months and I'm coming to accept that this may be permanent. I've tried two weeks of fasting and elemental diet, as well as two weeks of antibiotics... all had temporary improvements that ended once I started eating again or went off the antibiotics, so it's obviously a byproduct of the new strains but they're here to stay. The absolute worst of the symptoms have lessened at least. I can sleep, my IBS symptoms are tolerable, and I'm mentally in a better state, but there are lingering physcial side effects that no one can explain. I have constant tingling in my arms and legs, I'm constantly hot and flushed regardless of the temp, very loud tinnitus which I never had before, and the extremely vivid and stressful dreams are still here. I wake up feeling exhausted. I've talked to a few doctors and all agree that the new strains have likely become dominant and are causing a physical reaction that my body does not like which is throwing off my homeostasis, but no one can decide what to do about it other than a very dangerous nuke option of heavy duty antibiotics and FMT. I'm still trying to wrap my head around the fact that one single pill has destroyed my health so much. All blood tests have come back fine, yet I essentially have the beginnings of an autoimmune reaction from one freaking pill. Edit: I just wanted to say that I'm revising my review slightly just for the simple fact that Pendulum was kind enough to reach out to me and have a Zoom discussion regarding my issues, plus offer a full refund. The fact that they immediately wanted to discuss and understand what had happened is a testament to their customer service. While I had a negative reaction to the strains, others might benefit. They seem to want to know all effects their product has and care about positive outcomes. --- I started trying different probiotics this last year after noticing greatly improved digestion with kefir and eventually found my way to Pendulum and wanted to try their Metabolic Daily to see if it had any benefit since a number of these strains are not available elsewhere. BIGGEST MISTAKE OF 2023. Now I'm used to some mild bowel changes and discomfort when introducing new probiotics, but they're always tolerable and short lived. I took ONE pill for the first time with dinner and I had one of the worst nights ever afterwards that turned into a month long battle now. I had major insomnia, night sweats, insane nightmares, high blood pressure, anxiety, and a constant feeling of being over stimulated and stressed. This lessened somewhat during the day, but I stopped taking it immediately and waited for things to go back to normal. THEY HAVEN'T. A month later I have chronic insomnia and anxiety, my mind wont shut off, my BP is higher than normal, constant heart pounding, and I started having daily hot flashes and intestinal cramps. (I'm a male). Eating seems to feed it and the more I eat throughout the day the worse it is at night. This is ruining my life and my health. It has been weeks so I started fasting to see if it would help and so far no luck. I'm going to try and elemental diet next because I need to sleep and return to normal. Apparently these strains are totally wrecking my hormonal balance somehow putting my brain and gut into overdrive. It feels like I've had three pots of coffee all day every day, or a dozen energy drinks. It's an awful feeling. Don't take this unless you are 100% sure you're ready for consequences! WHY? I started looking into the strains (which I should have done earlier) and these are just normal bacterial strains, they're spore forming... which means even if you stop taking it they just keep self propagating and never leave! The only way to get rid of it is either antibiotics or an elemental diet and that's not guaranteed. I wish I had never attempted this and just left well enough alone. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK.
