I was so excited to purchase this grill. I grill chicken outside all summer long but Michigan winters aren't the best for grilling. I purchased this as a cheaper alternative to the Philips Indoor Grill. Unfortunately, my experience with the Gotham Grill left a lot to be desired. The main reason for returning is the inconsistent heat: based on my infrared thermometer, the cooking surface ranges from 560 degrees F at the tip of the heating element to 325 degrees F at the edges of the cooking area. On the highest setting, it still took over 40 minutes to grill one chicken breast (about 10 oz, thawed completely). The infomercial shows this thing completely covered with food all grilling up great, but that's simply not reality. You have to use only the very center of the grill to get any consistency, and again at it's highest setting, that temperature is only about 350-375 degrees centered around the heating element, so it will take a very long time to fully cook anything. Cleaning is not horrible, but as other reviewers said, the back of the grill surface is not coated so it's not easy to clean. You cannot put it in the dishwasher because the plug is molded into to the side of the grill surface. The drip pan can be put in the dishwasher. Overall, returned and will continue to search for an indoor solution.
