I ordered the light gray as I use natural oils in my hair and figured the white would look dinghy quickly. My observations after wearing this cap for a while: 1. It does help to retain oils in the hair much longer than a cotton based scarf or nothing at all 2. By maintaining a higher moisture level, I found my scalp itched less 3. I have a small head and it did slip around, but not off during the night. I'm a flip floppy sleeper, so I'm never in the same position all night 4. The cap stained easily from the oils and did not wash out. My natural oils usually washes out easily from my clothing/bedding.....but not for this cap 5. The dye transferred to my pillow cases. If I decide to wear the cap, I have to remember to use my three dye destroyed pillowcases, otherwise I will destroy other pillowcases. (oh, and at times during the night, I'll toss my pillow aside and sleep flat on the bed, so some of my sheets also have dye) I'm contemplating on ordering the white, but I see the silk lining is gray............ Overall:. If you sleep with dark pillowcases, by all means, order this cap. If you use all white pillowcases, either don't use oils in your hair or don't buy a dark(ish) color.
