Buy the Mophie Juice Pack AIR instead
I've been using Mophie Juicepack's since the iPhone 3G, so I have lots of experience with them.
That said, I preordered the helium the day it was announced so I could get it. I play poker and sometimes marathon tournaments mean my battery died at some point. I have a small battery pack I carry around with me too (New Trent brand, they're awesome!) but I stil like to have a Mophie, it's much more convenient.
That said, I thought the Helium was a nice product except for the headphone jack issue. Basically since the jack and the battery/lightning plug are all at the bottom, that's where Mophie put their battery. There is a cutout to get to the headphone jack but it's so deep that anything other than Apple's stock earbuds (which I hate - I use the Bose MIE once and they're SO worth the money)
Then I found out a week later that the Juicepack Air was coming out so I asked Mophie about exchange. They were nice enough to send me an RMA for the Helium, and I bought the Air. I've got them both now (haven't sent helium back) so I can compare the two to see which is better.
The only advantage to the Helium is it has a smaller battery, so it's a little lighter. THat's about it for the Helium. Everything else is in the Air. Better battery, more stylish looks, and this is the biggie to me; the side buttons are overlaid on top of the iphone buttons. The Helium just has a big cutout for the volume and mute switch, so it's harder to get to (especially on calls.)
That said, the Helium is a decent product, but I'd highly recommend spending the extra $20 for the better battery, better styling, etc..
