Let me start by saying that I have used 4711 for years, more than ten in fact, and the product I received by clicking on this product link was NOT 4711. The scent should be deep and rich like neroli with a hint of citrus and what I received, while it might be enjoyable to many, was sharp like gardenia and other white flowers. After hundreds of years of production, I seriously doubt that the company would suddenly change their formula so I can only surmise that either something went seriously wrong in transit (mishandling by overheating or the like) or that this was some knockoff cleverly inserted into the market chain. My advice to anyone thinking of buying this product, which is the bulk size, to save money on something you enjoy would be to find a retail store where you can smell the genuine article and be prepared to send this version back if you are shipped the same version of the product that I received. For myself, I will not be buying this anywhere but a brick and mortar store in future and then only if they have a sample open so that I can ensure that I'm getting the 4711 that I have for years.
