BUYER BEWARE - Good for some things, HORRIBLE for others!
I have never written a review for anything before but felt like I needed to share this experience so that others don't go though the same thing I went through. I bought this bentonite clay to use topically on my face & back and also to take as a supplement to help me "detox". Before buying this I was treating a candida overgrowth which can cause temporary "die-off" symptoms as the yeast dies and releases toxins into your body. Since starting the candida treatment I had been experiencing mild to moderate acne on my face and back because of this "die off" phenomenon. Bentonite clay is recommended for people treating candida because it can help mop up the toxins caused from die off. I was hoping that ingesting this once a day and using it on my face and back once a week would help draw out the toxins and clear my acne more quickly. When I used it on my back I had no irritation, no side effects, and I think after about two weeks it really started to help my acne (though it needs to be used in conjunction with other treatment). Ingesting it worked okay - it helped a little bit but not much but I had no side effects and I think it may have actually helped my digestion. Now for the bad part - I started using this on my face once a week, mixing it with water and leaving it on for 15 minutes as instructed. Every single time I have used it I have broken out in horrible cystic acne in the following days. At first I thought it was purging, but after five uses over four weeks my skin is worse than it has ever been. I have probably 40 massive cysts on my face which will take weeks if not months to heal and will leave me with permanent scars. When I started this I had 1-2 cysts. It also didn't help clear any of my existing acne or do anything beneficial for my skin. I would exercise caution using this on your face if you have acne prone skin because it literally destroyed mine. I understand that this may work for some people but I genuinely don't think it is worth the risk if you already have acne prone skin. At the very least STOP using it immediately if you break out in cystic acne after, this is not a normal purge process and not worth it. I also want to point out that I had no irritation when using it so I didn't see these horrible break outs coming. I now haven't used it for a week and my skin is starting to calm down, but again this will take months to repair and will leave me with permanent damage. After researching online I found that many people with acne prone skin have this reaction to bentonite clay, so I would be cautious when using this substance at all, not just this brand. I am devastated by what this has done to my skin and don't want anyone else to experience the same thing.
