Don't use for milk!
I did buy this to make it easier on my 6 year old to get his own milk. Overall, it works okay. I have to put the milk jug on our top shelf because the device adds a couple inches to the height of the milk jug, so it's our only shelf with enough clearance. The lever is easy to push and the milk comes out in a steady stream pretty quickly as long as the batteries are new. I was dissapointed honestly in the battery life. Using a newly purchased package of brand name batteries, I got approximately 3 milk jugs of use before the milk started flowing considerably slower. Would have expected them to last longer. The cleaning isn't terrible. I ran the unit in a bowl of soapy water to clean the inside of the tube and flushed with clean water. Cleaning the actual spout is a bit of a challenge since the opening is small. I used the long bristles on a bottle brush to get in there. My husband doesn't like this because he forgets it's on and accidently pushes the lever when trying to take the jug out, spilling milk all over the floor. I'm sure he'll get used to it. Edit* 5/28/13 - After using for a little over a month, I'm getting rid of this. While the concept is great and it worked for the purpose intended (so my 6 year old can get his own drink,) it just is too difficult to clean. I've used this for approximately 6 gallons of milk. Between each new gallon, I have promptly washed the outside of the tube and ran hot soapy water through the inside of the tube and then rinsed clean before using for the next gallon. This is the only way to clean it since you can't physically open the tube to clean inside. Unfortunately, despite my best efforts, I noticed it is starting to smell sour because the inside of the tube just isn't getting clean enough. It's too bad the tube wouldn't detach so it could at least be soaked. My opinion - if you're using for a drink that won't spoil, it should be fine. But, I would stay away from using this for liquids such as milk or juice since it just can't be cleaned well enough.
