Unit died, netgear would not honor 1 year hardware warranty
Unit became unusable after 8 months of use, originally got in June/July of 2015. Came home one day to a slow connection, tried to log into the router configuration page and was unsuccessful. Restarted the device, still didn't work, reset the device to the factory settings, still did not work properly. Mean while the connection was partially working, but was still having issues loading pages and downloading. Checked the modem no issues, connection is strong with the ISP. In need of a solution I ordered the Asus TR-Ac5300, which was a great move and has since been running strong. I figured after getting the new router I would warranty the old one as a back up or something. Called Netgear and they would not honor their 1 year hardware warranty. In order to use that warranty they have to diagnose the device...which falls under the 90 day support when first getting the device. So in order to get that remote service after 90 days you have to pay $139 for a year's worth of warranty, which also covers non-netgear devices. This was the nail in the coffin for me for netgear. I called amazon explained the issue and they refunded me the router bought back 8 months ago and felt bad that the manufacturer would not honor the 1 year hardware warranty.
