I purchased this phone for my grandmother and needed to get a smaller sized SIM card, which was no problem. I went to AT&T and had a new SIM ready and activated in minutes. However, while the AT&T agent was verifying the phone's functionality, he noticed some problems with connecting to the network. We brushed this off as being related to the freshly activated SIM. Over the following 36 hours there were persistent issues with connecting to the AT&T network. I called AT&T support, and was advised that it was an issue with the phone, as the SIM worked perfectly (with an adapter) in the previous phone. Regarding preferences: if the user is accustomed to the "multi-tap" texting method (i.e. tap "2" three times to type letter "c", etc.) this phone is also a poor choice as it only offers a T9 style prediction method. I am tech savvy and had a difficult time typing a text with this phone as well. I cannot judge this phone's durability and can only hope this was a defective device.
