We bought two of these bookcases about a year ago, and it's been a disappointment from the start. We bought these to house our rather extensive book collection, and within months, the cheap, particleboard shelves were bowing heavily. We did not over-stuff the shelves either, we only put the amount of books that fit on each. Along with the bowing, the peg holes ended up wearing out on the bottom from the weight and caused shelves to come crashing down. This also caused the cardboard backing to come off the back. If you are buying this product more for displaying light weight decorative items and a few (note: VERY few) books, go ahead and go for it, but if you are considering buying this as a serious book collector, save yourself the disappointment, frustration, and money and get yourself something that will last. It's really a sad, sorry state of affairs when a BOOKcase isn't even made well enough to be able to handle holding BOOKS. There are two words for this product: planned obsolescence.
