The Mother of all Mothership Routers!.........EDIT: Router BLOWS!
I lovingly call this router the WOPR, based on the movie "War Games" with Mathew Broderick.
This router is HUGE! I now know what weapon to use if a burglar or zombie enters my den late at night.
Aside of the jokes, this router does the job. It has so much processing power that it easily handles multiple streaming devices and uploading to my NAS server all at great speeds. The only ding is that the software is dummy-proofed for noobs and doesn't allow for more advanced configuration. Missing is the function to send a "wake up call" to turn on my dormant server.
I had the Netgear R7000 Nighthawk previously and replaced it with this one when the Netgear router started crapping out after many years of faithful service to my clan. Main differences, again, is that processing power and extra 5G antenna for higher speeds.
At least I will be future proofed for many years to come with this spaceship. Hopefully my brain won't fry from all those antennas pelting me with EMF goodness.
If I end up hospitalized because of this router, I'll edit my review posthaste. Until then, it's all systems GO!....
EDIT: Well, Folks. I have to change my 5* rating to 1*. After only of handful of months of owning this router, like others, the 5G WiFI started dropping out almost every day. Usually that is enough to keep it going 1-2 days before losing signal on my Macbook Pro. There has been NO Firmware updates since the Xmas Holidays when I got this thing. So Linksys' lack for firmware and troubled WIFI makes me conclude that this is a dud. An EXPENSIVE(!) dud!!.....Back to Netgear or ASUS I go!........(P.S. The router lost connection while writing this EDITED review. LOL. *facepalm*)
