I found the mattress comfortable, but defective after use
Ultimately, I found the mattress comfortable, but defective after use. I don't know that mattresses should be sold on Amazon until they figure out how to handle the return issue without burden to the customer. The purchase was easy and the item arrived fairly quickly. We unboxed the item, let it assume its shape and then tried to enjoy the mattress. I actually found the mattress quite comfortable; my wife initially felt it was too hard but was willing to give it a try. After about a month the mattress began to lose it shape and was no longer flat on top. We inquired about the defect and were told we could return the item anytime in the 120 day period for a full refund; customer to pay the return shipping. Buyer, beware of the return shipping cost which was $307.58; that's right, more than half the cost of the item itself. That $300+ was to ship the item in the condition it was sent to me, shrunk down and rolled up tight. The return package dimensions were 14"x14"x75"; only a bit larger than what was sent to me. Tips on how to shrink down the item for return below. I'd recommend finding someone that will provide a more reliable product and cover return shipping. Good luck. o, if you need to return the item this is what I did (pictures included). 1. get a mattress bag - the bags they sell at Lowes or Home Depot have small holes running down the sides. You can tape over these holes and have success. Alternatively, you can buy the mattress bag on Amazon from Zero Waste Moving- Eco Mattress Protection; that one doesn't have any holes except for the opening of the bag. 2. Slide the bag over the mattress and seal the end, use tons of tape. Leave a little opening for your vacuum hose in the corner. 3. Turn on the vacuum and wait, mine took about an hour to suck out all the air. Do not turn off the vacuum. 4. With the vacuum still on, setup several rolls of tape at the ready. When you roll the mattress you want to secure it as quickly and easily as possible. 5. Roll the mattress as tight as you can from the end opposite the vacuum. The vacuum should still be on. 6. Secure with tape along the entire width of the roll. Then go back and wrap around the roll a few more times. 7. If you can, tip the roll upright, with the vacuum still on (this is why it is in the corner). 8. Tape around the entire roll many times. Don't get dizzy. Top, bottom, middle, the whole thing. 9. Turn off the vacuum, add some more tape. 10. I didn't have a box for this so I rolled the mattress roll in cardboard then fit some ends for the roll. Again, lots of tape.
