Sadly, didn't work out of the box
I hope my experience with this product is an outlier. I put in the batteries supplied with the unit correctly after reading the entire owner's manual. Turned it on, but nothing lit up, nothing happened. I couldn't make it work after pressing all the buttons. Conclusion, there was either a manufacturing problem or it was damaged during shipment. :(
