what
I usually like books from this author but this just wasn't it. So Tamryn falls in love with a man who literally sold her to a brothel, had sex with her and then kicked her out like old garbage, all because they trauma bonded? What..? And Seamus just woke up one day and felt like he was in love with Tamryn because they had good sex and they bonded over trauma? I understand that this was suppose to be a quick read and probably not meant to inspire think pieces but I really think black authors who tend to write bwwm sub-genre books should really think about the quality of their work before putting it out. Because this just screams to me white savior, when in fact Seamus caused more trauma to Tam, but because he's white and described as handsome, rich, and broken its okay? Don't get me wrong there are a lot of books like this however because this one was a short story we didn't get to any character development and if you're going to dive into something like the topic of the brutalization of black women then it should be longer than 110 pages.
