While I am pleased they finally did a wide mouth bottle, I hate to see that awful red prepackaged nectar mix in the bottle. They seem to target new hummingbird enthusiasts with that garbage, as anyone who has been feeding hummingbirds for years has learned that red dye and preservatives are harming those dear little birds. It is also much cheaper to make your own nectar with 1 part white cane sugar to 4 parts water. I have since found feeders that far outdo these. The Homestead bottle feeder is much better and its bee guards actually work. I would recommend that bottle feeder over any Perky Pet has, even my little tree frog likes it! I have several of the Perky Pet feeders that I am slowly phasing out of my rotation. I am a Hummingbird banding station and have over 40 feeders going at peak migration time and literally hundreds of birds, so I do know what I am talking about.
