Blew up in my face!
So glad I wear glasses and did not lose my eye when it blew up in my face! Seated at my workbench to do detail electronics or soldering, my head is about a foot and a half from the surface. C1 capacitor failed, exploded off the PCB straight up and the aluminum shell launched into my forehead. Paper, foil and internal parts of the capacitor were like tiny shrapnel. Minor lacerations, more than just broke the skin and yes...bleeding. I had concern about Quality Control when the backside of the Printed Circuit Board had sticky residue and "chalky" looking leakage on it. I had NO load on the circuit (open circuit). Source was 14.8 VDC connected to "IN" on the circuit board. Output was connected to a Digital Volt Meter with plans to monitor output voltage and adjust down to 12 VDC. DROK "buck" had a light/faint "whistle" when first connected to power source. Probably wasn't 3 seconds until the capacitor popped (more light a minor explosion). *EDIT- I tried posting with a disgruntled word (stating I was "urinated" off) and had a pic of my bloody forehead...guess they did not want either of those, so I removed them and here we are. Now I can't add any photos of the product that failed.
