Beware!!! I bought 2 of these in 2015. Great cans - far outlast any others I have had in the past. I bought 5 more of Sep 2017 - same exact can (except vent which was unknown to me). The vent on the old cans screwed down and created a positive seal. Can could tip over and would never leak. New cans have a vent cap that will never tighten, but there is a nipple inside that is meant to plug vent hole. I call Scepter about this (figuring the put on wrong caps) and lady informed me this is the way it is supposed to be. She said it is "like a safety cap on a pill bottle" and the nipple will close vent (but cap will never tighten to fully engage nipple). Well when the can tips over water will leak. She told me they are "meant to be upright"... well I guess these are not for any long term storage. If they leak that means air can enter.. you are going to have some nasty water in a short amount of time. What a way to ruin a very nice product.....................
