Don't buy it
This was a mistake. I hate it. Last year I bought it for my son and daughter Inlaw as they were preparing for a walk on the Appalachian trail. I thought it would be easy to track them. It did not auto update location very well and of course extra money was needed for the tracking features. Nothing intuit about the software or application. You have to use a credit card to activate the SPOT. They automatically billed my credit card after a year. Almost $200 with no warning. Obviously they were unable to reimburse that.
