I was so happy to see the new NOCO 10 GENIUS charger come early. It was hooked up to optima yellow top with 11.8 volts. The problem was charger stayed on all night 9 hours with out shutting off! Overcharging and Overheating the battery and charger. I was one of the first to receive product before release date i pre ordered it dec 5th 2019. i called tech support he couldn't give me an answer why charger did Not shut off. they sent a prepaid label and said to send it for testing . since the charger was so hot and had cooked the yellow top so bad i decided to return to Amazon . i asked if they would send a brand new one and he said they would have to test mine first! Not acceptable for me. Tech tried to suggest it was battery ,If so why did the charger continue to stay on ? it actually got the battery so hot the top was swelled up 1//8" or more. i was concerned the battery was un safe Gassing off toxic fumes being hot to touch. tech support guy asked how i moved battery if so hot i explained it has a handle. The light never came off red on the charge level battery was at 174 Degrees Fahrenheit and charger was at 126 degrees. So now im late for work so i put battery and charger in my truck to drop battery off at autostore for them to observe and test. Then i didn't have to worry the battery starting fire while i was at work. The Battery was in working condition before i used the new charger. Now its been recycled . I didn't want to take chance getting back same charger from NOCO after testing and loose my money . i wouldn't even feel comfortable using that charger anymore. The Autostore said could be a cell was fried and couldn't charge or save it. As For the "Safest Charger" My Biggest complaint No Safty shut off. Not so Genius!
