Inconsistent and buggy software + outdated guides makes a near-useless product
Please do not buy this machine - My cricut has been nothing but a mess of problems since day one of purchasing. The software to cut is presented through a website, and prone to all sorts of glitches and errors. To give a SMALL sample of the issues I've encountered with this product:
Images are automatically assigned locations on the mat, preventing you from changing them up to save space, etc
Images cutting in different sizes than the preview image displays (preview image not updating properly), a problem especially prevalent if you use Chrome
The Cricut has a mandatory quarter-inch buffer space for cutting but the (MANDATORY AND EXPENSIVE - the Cricut will not print without them) Cricut-brand cutting mats do not have quarter-inch marks: because of this, there is no way to line up smaller things such as index cards or small journal pages reliably without purchasing an additional ruler and hoping for the best
The PRINT then cut feature has been entirely useless for my purposes - the Cricut has failed to recognize it's own print marks on the images 100% of the time (regardless of whether i print with a home printer or at a print store) and as such refuses to cut a single image i print using their own software.
Even for the problems that have fixes, Cricut has yet to update any of their online resources with their "new" software layout and options and as such their own help guides are thoroughly useless. I purchased my cricut in the hope of quickly producing prototypes and crafts for my business but would have had a faster and easier time cutting these shapes out with a butter knife.
