Well at least it was free
Lots of spoilers ahead The book was a free down load on my kindle. The best thing I can say is the book was free. The main characters were trite and cliched. The male protagonist, Kyle had no apparent redeeming qualities. The author kept explaining how brilliant and wonderfully quirky he was, but failed show it. If he was so brilliant how did he fail to figure out several main plot points? How the female protagonist, Nicole, became a detective is mind boggling. She has no back bone, no self respect, and lacks the most basic common sense. The plot twists are just ridiculous. The way the main characters play fast and loose with police procedure is laughable. Kyle steals a brain of a homicide victim from the morgue and eats it to help him find a serial killer. He is allowed to continue to work in law enforcement. He is arrested for stalking, stealing, assault, and several other crimes and yet he is part of law enforcement. Forget chain of evidence, contaminating a crime scene, and taking the criminal to court; Kyle murders a suspects and gets away with it by pleading insanity. Perhaps, the author was trying to be dark and edgy, but fails in my opinion. The plot twists in the end, especially what the serial killer does with the trophies are just bizarre and silly. The best word to sum up the whole book is silly.
