Fake Essential Oils - Save your time & money and invest in a real product
These are not real essential oils. They are highly diluted and strictly fragrance. A real essential oil does not leave a ring if you allow a drop to dry on a piece of paper or coffee filter, but these leave a giant oily residue mess which indicates that they are severely diluted, which is not stated on the label. This is no the 'be all end all' test purity (oils can still be mislabled and replaced with a cheaper oil that smells similar), but it will tell you if its heavily diluted, which these are. The scent of these has a lot of perfume and chemicals added - each of these oils smells completely different than the versions I have from a reputable company. A real essential oil company will likely offer more than a 'top 8 set', provide third party test results (GC/MS tests show the chemical constituents for each oil, proving purity), Latin names, how they were produced (ie steam distilled, cold pressed, CO2 extraction), recommended dilution rates, safety information and country of origin.
Here's a rundown, by each oil in the set:
Lavender: Does not resemble the scent of real lavender - AT ALL.
Frankincense: Does not resemble any of the frankincense varieties (carterii, serrata, ferrera) AT ALL
Tea Tree: Not what tea tree smells like
Rosemary: No what rosemary smells like
Peppermint: Smells minty - but its definitely not pure
Sweet Orange: Smells orange like - but its definitely not pure
Lemongrass: Smells like lemon, which is not lemongrass. Definitely not pure and completely mislabeled
Eucalyptus: Smells like chemicals. Not pure in the least.
If you're thinking, 'well, I can just use these to diffuse' - please don't. These clogged my diffuser (from whatever they're diluted in, as you can't diffuse carrier oils), which made water go all over the top of my dresser, ruining the finish. I also got a horrible headache, since whats in them is not what's on the label. They're not therapeutic. Please also note that there is no such thing as 'therapeutic grade', there is no sanctioned or testing standard to call something 'therapeutic grade' - at this point, its purely marketing.
At the time of my initial review, I had missed the return/refund window by 3 days (as a busy full time working mother, its difficult to get things done in the 30 day window). I worked with Amazon and received a full refund. If you're unhappy with these, which I expect you would be, please ask for a return. I highly recommend you do your research and purchase a reputable essential oil company, which does not mean you have to join an MLM (doTERRA, Young Living), there are many other affordable options (ie Plant Therapy and Eden's Garden on (or off) Amazon and Nature's Gift, Eden Botanicals, Stillpoint, Appalachian Valley off Amazon). If the price seems too good to be true then it probably is. Pure frankincense alone should run you around $15 for 10 or 15ml. $20 for the oils listed is delusional and should raise red flags.
