Sound sounded like a recording from another recording to me, but that’s just me. Volume only has 3 levels, low, medium and high. Low is too loud and the sound is like a Snap Crackle and Pop! I would have preferred a volume wheel to adjust to the level I liked. Built like I bought it from the Dollar Store. I can get a MP3 of my choosing for free on my iPod. Returning it. One last thought as I was thinking how to remedy a soothing crackle sound from a wood burning fireplace. If you have an extra device you can use, (I have my grandkids old iPad Mini) and Bluetooth speakers you can pick your favorite YouTube sound and use that!
