I purchased this heater in November 2011 and was really happy with it for over 5 years. The size and design were just perfect. I really didn't pay much attention to the reviewers that said it was a potential fire hazard. However, just last month, I started to smell something burning - the electrical/tinny type smell. I couldn't figure out what it was because it surely couldn't be the heater that's been good for such a long time. The house is 18 years old, so I wouldn't think the electrical system is dated. The pictures attached show the damage to the outlet and the other picture showing the prong isn't as clear, but suffice it to say, it's not safe to use. There was never a noise or any other warning - it just started burning one day.
