Disappointing Lifespan and Worthless Warranty, Poor Support
It is disappointing when a product which is advertised to have a 15 year lifespan has a fine-print warranty of only 3. And that warranty specifies usage of only 3 hours/day and requires the customer to prepay return shipping of the defective product for replacement - the shipping of course exceeding the cost of buying a new bulb.
But that's the situation with these Philips LED bulbs. And when 2 of 6 of them, installed only 10 months ago, have already failed, the disappointment deepens. These bulbs were chosen for hard to reach locations because of their touted extended life and the excellent reviews, which in retrospect were mostly written after short usage times.
On the positive, they were good while they lasted. Very bright white light (Daylight version,) instant on, very little heat buildup, smaller than equivalent 100 watt incandescent and CFL, and contain no mercury. But comparatively, they're expensive for the short experienced period of use which is less than the durability of a typical incandescent.
These bulbs are identical to Philips 462036 - the different model numbers reflect only a difference in number of bulbs per package.
UPDATE Nov 14, 2017:
In response to Phillips comment below I called the number indicated - twice over 2 days. Of the 6 menu choices, none were warranty related. Technical support was chosen - it rang unanswered for 4 minutes, then abruptly disconnected the first time. The second time a message played that there was unusually high call volume and then the call was disconnected.
Conclusion: their telephone support is worse than their light bulbs.
