Tolkien Fan Click Bait
I finally got to watch it and this thing is an atrocity to any true fan of Tolkien. Do not touch with a 10 Ft. pole.
For those who are not familiar with the work, if you enjoy good visuals paired with at best mediocre acting and writng - you might like this.
This series is designed to ride upon a well established base to get viewership numbers. As for those claiming the "creative" excuse - There is a big difference between Sir Peter Jackson excluding Barrows Down, Tom Bambadil, replacing Glorfindel with Arwen, Company of Rangers and the paths of the dead, Replacing the freed men with the army of the dead to name a few. This on the other hand wholly different story all together.
Of Envy: This is nothing short of co-opting a well loved author's work and the world he created re-made to how "it should be" because the writers and crreative staff despite of their percieved brilliance cannot match his work and make a compelling world and story that is worth the watch.
Of Falability and Frailty (Varlar excempted - especially Tulkas): The Characters in the Silmarillion were not impervious although armed with magical and or enhanced weapons they still died. Its is through the characters falability that they fall into ruin or by overcoming it that they achieve greatness (or to live ones life with the one he loves).
Of Galadriel - If one wants proof that the people who made this are not tolkien fans - look no further. If I remember correctly she would have been at least a thousand years old by the time of the Second Age.
She had the ability to peer into the minds of others to judge them fairly. Not the overpowered impetulent imature charater shown in the series. They would have been best served with a made up charcter from Aman.
of Elrond - Come on (re-imaging - excuse for poor writing and lack of research).
This is where I get off the bus.
P.s. To the who one said something to the end of "you can believe the existence of dragons and not a certain type of hobbit" The problem is not the belief of but that the author has left detailed descripions of said creature/s - This is a hobbit! sorry it does not match the description.
