TV ads and the description of the product on Amazon leads one to believe you can use this for just about anything. The instructions included with the product, however, tell a wholly different story and are in direct conflict with the information in the product description on Amazon. Roll over the Features and Benefits...according to the instructions included with the actual product, none of this is true. 1. Under SUPER STRONG ADHESION: "High adhesion capacity allows mounting on metal, plastic, aluminum, or glasses surfaces. Warning: Not for use on dry-painted surfaces." Turns out that the ONLY recommended surfaces are metal, plastic, aluminum, glass or marble. The warning should also include all of the surfaces that, per the instructions that come with the product, are NOT recommended: Wet surfaces (see #2 below), bathroom, wall paper, rough surfaces, stone or painted walls. 2. Under TEMPERATURE & WEATHERPROOF: "This tape is both weatherproof and waterproof..." Not according to the instructions which specifically say wet surfaces and/or bathrooms are not recommended. 3. Under DURABLE: "...durable enough to withstand the pressure of up to 17.5 pounds of weight without ripping or otherwise refraining from doing its job." Per the instructions, "If mounting a shelf, do not add heavy objects". Only weight lifters wouldn't call 17.5 pounds of weight heavy. Lastly, per the instructions: "If using on drywall and painted surfaces, application will be permanent. Removing the Alien Tape may cause paint to peel or leave residue". PERMANENT folks...if you try to remove this stuff from your painted walls, it will most likely remove the paint and possibly some of the drywall underneath. Since the only "suitable surfaces" indicated in the instructions are wood, marble/tile, metal or glass/plastic (in other words, always dry, non-porous surfaces), household applications are minimal at best. Information shows using this to hang pictures (my primary intended application) but if you can't put this on a painted wall...??? There are so many contradictions between the product description on Amazon and the information included with the product, Amazon should rethink this one.
