I cursed. A lot.
My wife bought this because she "loves cats." I love cats too, though slightly less after installing these shelves. My wife actually made me a pumpkin pie as a way to apologize for purchasing this abomination.
In my youth I spent summers working construction; I built entire houses. I know my way around tools.
IKEA? I ain't skeered!
But these "shelves" are an ill-conceived affront to whatever deity you may or may not worship.
First off, none of the slots on the metal brackets that hold the shelves are perpendicular to the wall, nor are the slots tight enough to hold the shelf through friction. This means you need three hands; 1 to hold the bracket, 1 to hold the shelf, and 1 to mark the shelf and wall in the places you need to drill a hole. Even then the shelf will not be parallel to the floor because the slot that holds the shelf is neither perpendicular to the wall or parallel to the floor. Rinse and repeat 3x.
Finally, I direct you to the reviewer submitted pictures. Every single one of them clearly show crooked shelves. Every. One. Of. Them. Even some of the pictures provided by the manufacturer show crooked shelves. I'd post pictures of our shelves, but I'm embarrassed.
If you want shelves that a tennis ball will will not stay on without rolling off, these are your shelves. If you're lucky you'll get a pie for your trouble.
