Contrary to an answer to a question regarding this product, it is NOT colored glass but rather glass that has been coated with a red film. This feeder is already beginning to lose its coating after just three hand washings. I purchased it hoping that it would be better than Perky Pet products, but it is much, much worse. I hold little hope of the soft plastic base holding up through an Arizona summer.
